Boats, yachts and their accessories are exposed to enormous weather influences, dirt and salt water. Weather protection covers are usually fitted with standard brass snaps, which are not only subject to corrosion, but also to lateral forces caused by wind and waves. The fastener can become stiff or even unusable over time and may pose a safety risk. The new FlexFix® product code DUP 9 made of stainless steel offers the solution.

YKK STOCKO has developed a new spring eyelet for the proven ring spring system product code DUR 9. The special design of the eyelet with proven FlexFix® technology, which replaces the metal spring part with a spring-elastic plastic, scores points with a special shape that can absorb lateral forces (shear force) particularly well. This allows more pull on the entire snap system – without tilting. This new eyelet can be compatible with identical systems and thus offers convenient optimization of already installed ball components.

In addition to the stud and post combination, a stud with integrated stainless steel screw is also available.

Function and advantages

The principle of a snap systems is defined by the functionality of the eyelet. With FlexFix® DUP 9, a flexible high-tech plastic with spring-elastic properties is integrated into the eyelet.

This combination of metal calotte and plastic inlay is particularly stable and can withstand high mechanical loads. When the stud is pressed into the eyelet, the flexible plastic inlay expands so that the head of the stud snaps securely into place and is perfectly enclosed. Thanks to the special shape of the eyelet, shear forces can be absorbed particularly well without tilting.
